There is a $300 duty-free threshold
Since 8 September 2025 Nigeria has applied an official de minimis threshold of $300. Goods valued at or below it are exempt from import duties and related taxes, provided they are not prohibited or restricted items.
But only four shipments a year qualify
This is the detail that matters most if you shop regularly. The exemption is restricted to four importations per annum. Plan around it: a few larger consolidated shipments use the allowance better than many small ones, and beyond four you are into normal duties regardless of value.
Declare the real value
The framework came with explicit enforcement against manipulating invoices or evading duty, and the stated penalties include forfeiture of the goods and arrest. Under-declaring to stay beneath the threshold is not a risk worth taking.
Restricted goods are outside the exemption entirely
The threshold only covers goods that are not prohibited or restricted. Anything on those lists needs the relevant permits whatever it cost, so check the category before ordering.

How they are collected — on delivery, or included when you pay if that option is offered — depends on the shipping method at checkout.

What cannot be shipped to Nigeria?
Items that cannot travel by air are excluded, such as aerosols, flammable liquids and loose lithium batteries, and Nigeria applies its own import restrictions on top. Check the category before you buy. See prohibited items.
